| I've got some work to do! |
With the unseasonably warm weather hitting the country this week, many people have started their Spring Cleaning a little early. Driving through the neighborhoods, I saw a lot of people working in their yard or dragging boxes from the depths of their basement to the curb. They are preparing their homes for Spring - a fresh start.
A fresh start applies to a lot more than the dark corners of your basement or attic. It applies to yourself as well.
We are three months into the year almost. New Year's Day is a distant memory. The promises we made to ourselves (and others) have faded into the routine of daily life.
However, I encourage you to take some time today and over the weekend to do a little bit of Spring Cleaning of your own. We all entered into the year with the best intentions of doing the right thing. This is the year of eating right, going to Church, exercising more, learning Spanish, getting a new job, quitting smoking, or breaking out of your shell.
I did great with some of my goals that fell into those categories for the first few weeks of the year. But then work got busy and I had some late nights. Then I just happened to find a few great movies at the library. I had to watch them because I didn't have them for very long, so I'll skip the Spanish/gym/church - whatever. And since I am watching a movie I should relax (I work so hard!) with those beers leftover from the Christmas celebrations (they'll go bad otherwise) and then - Boom! - I fell right back into old habits like slipping into old comfortable pajama pants. It just felt right!
However, it's not what I want.
So, I am getting back On Track toward my goals.
I am focusing on fitness. I already signed up for a class that begins in April. It's a boot camp type class for tri-athletes (which I am not, so I am scared!) If the upcoming fencing doesn't get me, this sure will!
| What I imagine life after the first class will feel like. |
I encourage you to take the next week to remove all your obstacles and lay out a plan for April to really start working toward just 1 of your goals.
It all starts April 1st - no joke.
